This the full CPPI map of over 20,000 precincts. The political scale is from 0 – 100, with 0 being the most “conservative” precincts and 100 being the most “liberal”. There are ten categories of scores shown here.


The CPPI was created from primarily 2004 ballot initiatives, because 1) with changing precinct lines from year to year for most counties, aggregating years proved difficult and 2) 2004 had maximum turnout and some clearly identifiable ideological issues.


Although we see the traditional coast/inland pattern, we see many subtle nuances. For instance, the fastest growing counties are moderate-to-conservative, but Placer County is more conservative than Riverside County.
